Localization Project Manager

Product Management Team | San Francisco, CA

The localization project manager will work closely with product teams to ensure global launch readiness and facilitate in providing a first class experience for our international users. The LPM will manage close ties with localization teams to drive localization projects from inception to launch including coordination of hiring of external translation teams, style guide and glossaries management, product translations, and linguistic QA.

Responsibilities

  • Actively provide inputs on design, UI customization, Go-to-Market plans, and cultural sensitivity by partnering with Engineering, Product and Design teams
  • Develops strong vendor relationships through excellent communication and vendor interfacing skills
  • Responsible for implementation and performance management of the Linguistic Review program at Dropbox and across vendor teams.
  • Understand challenges in the localization process and lead broad language quality improvement initiatives at the language and team level, as well as upstream.
  • Manage day to day localization projects through translation vendors.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to manage priority EPD workstreams for i18n including coordination on product launches, new features, marketing, new languages, QA, etc
  • Work closely with Language Specialist and Language Managers to maintain linguistic and functional quality
  • Facilitate feedback from Language Specialist / Vendors and ensure their feedback is captured, validated, and implemented.
  • Coordinate with Dropbox’s quality vendor resource and drive quality projects to ensure localization quality and monitor language quality data.
  • Perform quality assurance responsibilities, including answering translator queries, training translators and revisers on linguistic concepts, communicating with team on repeated errors
  • Provides general support to team members, team goals/ initiatives, and contributes to overall process review and improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-3 years of previous project management experience within the translations industry, Localization Project Management experience preferred
  • Familiar with Dropbox's mobile and web products, preferably a user
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, thorough, accurate, and able to work quickly and steadily in a focused manner
  • Able to manage frequent change, delays, interruptions, and unexpected events. Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate initiative, persistence, ability to problem solve, and enthusiasm for learning new skills. Offer creative thinking and solutions
  • Knowledge of CAT (computer-aided translation) tools, software development cycle and agile framework
  • Strong computer and desktop publishing skills
  • Fluency in an additional language is a plus
  • Willing to travel as needed
