The Dropbox badge makes collaboration just a little easier. By showing you information about who’s currently working in a shared file with you, you can keep track of updates, save versions of the document, and much more. The Dropbox badge changes to indicate the different states a file goes through as you collaborate and edit within Microsoft Office documents.

If you're not seeing the Dropbox badge, please check to ensure the following:

  • You have the Dropbox desktop application installed on your computer.
  • The file you're working on is saved in your Dropbox folder.
  • The file you're working on is a Microsoft Office document, opened with Microsoft Office.
  • Your computer is connected to the Internet.
  • Your Dropbox is connected to the Internet.
  • You're on Windows (Vista and above), using Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint (versions 2007, 2010, or 2013).
  • You’re on a Mac (Mountain Lion and above), using Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint (version 2011).

Please note that the Dropbox badge will only appear if all of the above are met.
